Thursday, May 1st, 2008Huey Lewis has an impressive musical career, but his defining moment still came on the silver screen – as the backup music for the science fiction comedy box office hit Back to the Future.
The story of a teenager (played by Michael J. Fox) and his relationship with an eccentric yet kind-hearted professor (played by Christopher Lloyd) as they time-travel back and forth through the ages, trying to repair the damage they’ve caused. And since Fox’s character is a musician and overall fan of music, a number of songs figure largely into the equation.
Most prominent is the Power of Love Huey Lewis, played in all three films but prominently featured in just one: the first. It is this song that Fox and his band play in an attempt to strike it big at their school, and subsequently becomes background music several other times in the movie.
